Music. a. the section of an orchestra or band comprising the percussion instruments. b. the percussion instruments themselves. The British Dictionary.com says this in part : 2. (music) the family of instruments in which sound arises from the striking of materials with sticks, hammers, or the hands. I like the British version better. Some of these are truly collectible and have value as such but as you might very well imagine many do not.
Drum sets and individual pieces of drum sets used by well known, famous, larger than life drummers can be worth astronomical amounts of money. Can you imagine what the drum set used by Ringo Starr on the Ed Sullivan Show February 9, 1964 would fetch at auction? While that may be a pipe dream, one of Kieth Moon's drum sets sold for $252,000. I personally believe that Ringo's set would probably eclipse that figure and I'm not alone in that belief. Maybe we'll all see for sure one of these days.
